A Word about Koli Area

Koliwood Holiday Cottages are modern, semi-detached holiday homes (built in 2006) located at Koli on the shore of Lake Pielinen in North Karelia. They are situated in Eastern Finland, about an hour's drive from the Russian border. The Koli Hills and the 3000 hectare Koli National park are one of the best-known sights of nature's beauty in Finland representing the Finnish National landscape. They are the remains of Karelian fold mountains formed millions of years ago.

Koli has served as a source of inspiration to countless artists including composer Jean Sibelius, painter Eero Järnefelt and novelist Juhani Aho, and provides tourists with a variety of cultural offerings throughout the year.

The Holiday Cottages

The cottages can be rented separately or together - that way they would be ideal for two groups or families who want to share a holiday but who also prefer their own space.

Both ottages have a double bedroom and a 'gallery' bedroom with 2 single beds and 2 mattresses (sleeps 6) Modern kitchens Under floor heating Spacious living room with a view to the lake, large cooking oven (wood available in the cottage), television and other luxuries Family sauna Bedlinen available for hire at a small extra charge Shower room, toilet, washing machine Carport with heater point Veranda with an additional dining area Outside a large, communal fireplace area The house is located right by the beach

Each cottage is equipped for 6 persons and sleeps four adults or a family of 6 Rent one or both cottages Direct access to shallow child friendly beach Fishing and canoeing opportunities by the lake and nearby rivers Cross country ski tracks nearby Hiking and walking trails Unsuitable for persons with limited mobility
